$24 MILLION TO FUND INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FROM NSW SMALL BUSINESSES

πŸŽ–οΈ
Launched today, the NSW Government’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is offering $24 million over two years for SMEs to solve pressing problems facing the state.

They include: β€œHow can we recycle PPE that currently ends up in landfill?” and β€œHow can we help vision-impaired customers navigate our public transport network?”

SMEs will be able to submit an innovative solution to the problems with successful applicants awarded $100k to develop their idea.Β

A second round of funding - $1 million – will be awarded to SMEs to prove up their idea – and if successful, the NSW Government will then be their first customer.

The program is part of the NSW Government’s push to help commercialise ideas in the state and drive investment, jobs and new industries as part of the Turning Ideas into Jobs – Accelerating Research & Development in NSW Action Plan, launched by the Premier this year.Β

The SBIR program is the first priority in the Action Plan which will accelerate the translation of NSW’s world-class ideas into new industries, products, services and jobs.

Hi,

This post is about the NSW Government's Minimum Viable Product grant.

I have been managing the program for a few years. The purpose of the grant is to help pre-revenue startups (note the entity must be pre-revenue) to progress from product dev to first sale.Β

Please consider applying if your startup have:

  • Have a potential business customer (if B2B) or a potential Channel to market (B2C)
  • Have $25,000 matched funding

Funding = $25k (no equity)

NOTE: The program is competitive, not all applications will be funded. Check the eligibility criteria and guidelines before you start.Β
